Haaland and Bobb scoring - lost against Celtic
(Manchester City - Celtic 3–4) In his first game as captain, it ended in defeat for Erling Braut Haaland (24) and his teammates. Oscar Bobb delivered a great performance.
The Oslo boys got his breakthrough after proving himself on the summer tour for Manchester City last year. This year, he opened the new season with a bang, as the club's first training match of the season on Wednesday night against Celtic in North Carolina in the USA.
The match eventually ended 3–4, with both teams having periods where they played havoc.
This was the first game where Haaland was captain for the light blues.
The goal show already started in the 13th minute after a goal by Nicolas Kühn at Celtic.
Even after the goal, City hung on, and it took one more Norwegian to equalise. The youngster Nico O'Reilly got the ball in the box, and played it on to Haaland.
The striker jumped over the ball, and Oscar Bobb came behind. The Celtic goalkeeper got a hand on the shot of the Norwegian great talent, but it was not enough to prevent the equaliser.
Celtic, for their part, did not give up. Just three minutes later, Kühn was able to score his second goal of the day. Just before half-time, Kyogo Furuhashi scored Celtic's third goal, and it looked like it would be a dark night for the light blues.
But as many times before, City showed their class. Only a minute after half-time, the equalizer came from Maximo Perrone.
City didn't give up there either. In the 56th minute it was Haaland's turn. On a high post from the left towards the back post. The striker stood there and poked in to make it 3-3. The assistant? Oscar Bob, of course.
The Norwegians stand up for Manchester City, said VG commentator Vegard Aulstad.
- It is interesting to see the development of Oscar Bobb. He is a dribbler, he always has been. But what he shows now, that he affects the match to such a large extent. It testifies to something very exciting in the subject, Aulstad continued.
After a difficult period with two goals conceded, another Celtic score was to come. A long pass into the back room put Celtic two on one against the City keeper. They made excellent use of that chance, and the 4-3 score from Luis Palma was a fact.
A minute later, Haaland was replaced.
Much more didn't happen, and Celtic ended up winning. Oscar Bobb stood the whole match, while Odin Thiago Holm from Trønster got 25 minutes for Celtic.
