57-Year-Old Model Proves Beauty Has No Age Limit

Nina Cash, 57, from California, US, was named one of seven winners in the 60th Anniversary issue of Sports Illustrated in May 2024, and is a body positivity advocate

Dr Nina Cash, 57, from California, may have modelled when she was younger, but it's in her 50s she's fallen into her stride. The stunner was named one of seven winners who were featured in the 60th Anniversary issue of Sports Illustrated in May 2024, and she's often seen strutting her stuff to promote body positivity on the catwalk.

Even though she pursued modelling after high school, she eventually stepped away from the industry to focus on raising her daughter as a single parent. This led the mum to a career in higher education, specifically in the field of continuing education and adult learning.

Nina earned her undergraduate degree in Human Services, followed by a graduate degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding. Eventually, she pursued a doctorate in educational leadership, which was driven by a passion for fostering learning and growth in individuals and communities.

But, after she retired in 2022, Nina felt "drawn" to re-visiting modelling. Towards the end of that year, she took a chance and submitted an application to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Search, and it paid off, reports the mirror

Now she's making her mark as a model, and she won't let her age, or what anyone has to say about it, get in her way. She's fit at fifty and ferociously fabulous.

Chatting with us, Nina declared: "It's crucial that women of all ages are represented in magazines and beauty campaigns. Diversity in representation not only reflects the reality of women's experiences, but also promotes inclusivity and empowerment."

By showcasing women of different ages, backgrounds and body types, we challenge narrow beauty standards and celebrate the beauty and value of every individual. It's essential for women to see themselves represented in media and advertising, as it promotes self-acceptance, confidence and a sense of belonging."

Nigeria fines Meta $220m for violating consumer, data laws

Nigeria fined Meta Platforms $220 million, its competition watchdog said on Friday, after investigations showed data-sharing on social platforms violated local consumer, data protection and privacy laws. Nigeria's Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) said Meta appropriated the data of Nigerian users on its platforms without their consent, abused its market dominance by forcing exploitative privacy policies on users, and meted out discriminatory and disparate treatment on Nigerians, compared with other jurisdictions with similar regulations. Meta did not immediately comment, but the FCCPC said in a statement that the company had provided some documents and have retained counsels who have met and engaged with the agency. FCCPC Chief Adamu Abdullahi said the investigations were jointly held with Nigeria's Data Protection Commission and spanned over 38 months. The investigations found Meta policies don't allow users the option or opportunity to self-...
